  to learn about current research in developmental neurobiology\, prenatal 
 and perinatal psychology\, psychoneuroimmunology\, and trauma theory. Pres
 enters will foster discussion on a new way of understanding the behavior o
 f both young children and adults and it's implications. Professionals will
  look at how they currently engage and support caregivers and identify the
  importance of acknowledging personal biases\, how they share information 
 and what corrections can be made to practices to help families flourish. S
 mall group discussion will include a review of case studies to form the ba
 sis for exploration of children's behavior across the spectrum of ages. \n
 \nPresented By:\nMichael Trout graduated from Alma College (B.A.\, cum lau
 de\,\nhonors in Philosophy) and Central Michigan University (M.A.\,\nPsych
 ology)\, and did his specialized training in infant psychiatry\nat the Chi
 ld Development Project\, University of Michigan\nDepartment of Psychiatry\
 , under Prof. Selma Fraiberg.\nKaren Doyle Buckwalter\, LCSW\, is Director
  of Program Strategy\nat Chaddock\, a multi-service agency providing a ran
 ge of\nresidential\, educational\, and community-based services for\nyouth
 \, birth through age 21\, and their families. She is a\nTheraplay® trainer
  and supervisor and consults with individuals\nand organizations desiring 
 to shift to attachment-based\ntrauma-informed ways of working with childre
 n. \n\nOBJECTIVES\n1.     Participants will be able to describe one functi
 onal result of adequate attachment between infant and primary caregiver\, 
 and one developmental result of adequate attachment between infant and pri
 mary caregiver.\n\n2.     Participants will be able to describe a time whe
 n they have wondered\, followed\, or held in their own work with a caregiv
 er.\n\n3.      Participants will be able to describe one neurological or s
 omatic reaction to stress in an infant or toddler\, and describe the evolu
 tionary function of such reaction.\n\n4.     Participants will be able to 
 write a description-- hypothetical or from their own life or work--of prob
 lematic behavior in a young child\, along with an explanation of why\, all
  things considered in the life of that child\, the behavior makes sense.\n
