 brella term used to describe the inability of an individual or a community
  to respond in a healthy way physically\, emotionally\, and mentally to ac
 ute or chronic stress. Becoming 'trauma-informed' means recognizing that p
 eople often have many different types of trauma in their lives. People who
  have been traumatized need support and understanding from those around th
 em. Often\, trauma survivors can be re-traumatized by well-meaning caregiv
 ers and community service providers.\n\nParticipants will:\n\n~ Learn abou
 t the physiological impacts of trauma on the brain and possible emotional\
 , behavioral\, social and intellectual/academic impacts on students in fos
 ter care (e.g.\, attachment issues\, externalized behaviors\, disabilities
 \, etc.)\n~ Learn about the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) studies a
 nd how they relate to life-long impacts for students impacted by trauma\n~
  How schools and classrooms are creating trauma sensitive learning environ
 ments and strategies for responding to these impacts\n~ Hear about the imp
 ortance of self-care: addressing our own traumatic experiences/history\n\n
 A little information about our trainers: Anjelica spent most of her teenag
 e years in foster care. She is currently a senior at CSUCI working towards
  a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and is raising a 4-year-old daughter. A
 mber spent her early childhood in foster care before being adopted into a 
 home that interfaced with over 200 foster children. Amber is currently att
 ending college and will graduate with a Bachelors in Sociology in 2021.\n
