Cassie Fernandez joined CASA of Ventura County as Executive Director in 2020 with a wealth of experience and background in the nonprofit arena — most recently as Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Golden Empire. Prior to that, she was the director of the Sheriff’s Activities League at the Kern County Sheriff’s Department, a program dedicated to improving the lives of children in underserved areas. Her background allows her to be an excellent leader for the program, as she wholeheartedly believes in CASA’s mission: that every court-dependent abused or neglected child should be safe, have permanence and the opportunity to thrive, and have a strong, compassionate volunteer Advocate. She started her advocacy more than a decade ago advocating for special needs children and has a passion for service. Cassie and her husband have four children. When she’s not busy with her children’s sports and activities, Cassie enjoys gardening and thrifting.
