Sexual Health Rights of Teens
Presented by CASA of Ventura County in collaboration with FKCE
Instructor: Blake Barron
This training equips resource parents, CASAs, and other adult supporters with the knowledge and confidence to navigate reproductive and sexual health conversations with the young people in their care. We'll explore the reproductive health care rights of foster youth under the Healthy Care Act, your role in supporting those rights, and an overview of current birth control methods and STI prevention. Most importantly, we'll focus on practical communication strategies to help you approach these topics with youth in a way that feels approachable, supportive, and age-appropriate.
Blake Barron is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Santa Barbara City College who has taught courses in human sexuality and reproductive biology for over 30 years to students at SBCC, UC Santa Barbara and other venues.
