Explore strategies for fostering healthy nutritional habits within your family by attending this specially designed class for resource caregivers. If you experience stress in getting your child to eat a balanced meal, this class will introduce you to methods to make mealtimes a positive experience for everyone. This training will dive into children's different responses and eating habits depending on developmental ages/stages, trauma and stress impacts, and everything in between.
Through demonstrations, you can get new ideas for healthy delicious snacks and meals the whole family can enjoy! Tackle nutrition and feeding challenges in foster care by introducing and implementing new creative approaches that promote healthy mental well-being, physical health, and interpersonal family dynamics. This training includes:
Week 3: Toxic Stress and Nourishment
How trauma and toxic stress impacts health and eating habits
Learn trauma-informed way to address children’s concerning eating behaviors, including picky eating
How good nutrition can support mental wellbeing
Learn simple strategies for selecting affordable and nutritious foods
Your Instructor:
Nora Hayes is a public speaker, educator, and foster adoptive mother with a wealth of diverse experience ranging from educating in the medical field to presenting in prison systems. She has specializations teaching in subjects such as chidbirth, parenting, health and safety classes. Additionally, as a certified trainer in the Children's Trust Fund Alliance’s national curriculum, "Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life In Your Work," Nora is able to train others in their state and region. Within her 30+ years of experience, Nora is also a foster/adoptive mom to a daughter with experience in the foster care system. She continues to strive to help others navigate through their parenting journey by sharing and intertwining her professional and lived experience!
