Instructors Christina Lomeli (JBAY) and Mariah Ramos (CA Treasury)
Join our special guest instructors from John Burton Advocates for Youth (JBAY), and the California Treasury to expand your awareness and knowledge on special opportunities and programs available to youth from foster care.
JBAY representative, Christina Lomeli, will dive into the CalKIDS Scholarship for Foster Youth, including a clear overview on the CalKIDS program as a whole and eligibility criteria. Participants will gain step-by-step guidance on how to help youth from foster care claim their accounts, along with practical tools and strategies to support outreach and help youth take an early step toward college and career success.
With the help from Mariah Ramos from the CA Treasury, participants will also learn more about the HOPE Program and it's scholarship. By learning more about the Trust account, eligibility, and it's requirements, participants will leave informed on how to assist their youth in establishing a financial foundation to break cycles of poverty and close the racial wealth gap. Beyond money, her presentation will also include a overview of the program's goal and it's offerings, like the free financial coaching provided to help participants make smart choices and build lasting stability!
