The Spirit of ICWA: Supporting Native Youth and Protecting our Culture

Trainer: Dayna Barrios
This training provides participants with an overview of how history currently impacts Native American communities. Participants will learn what the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) is and why it is important. Youth protective factors and cultural resiliency will also be discussed.
Meet the Trainer: Dayna Barrios has a Master’s degree in Sociocultural Anthropology and has worked within Native communities for over a decade. She is the former chairwoman and current enrolled member, of the Barbareño/Ventureño Band of Mission Indians. Dayna is a cultural advisor and conducts cultural awareness trainings across Ventura County to raise
awareness and increase education about Native communities.
