Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Caregivers
Presented by Ventura and Oxnard College FKCE
Trainers Anne Rodriguez & Dwayne Dunlevy
This interactive workshop introduces caregivers to the world of artificial intelligence (AI) in a simple, approachable way. Participants will learn what AI is, explore common myths and concerns, and discover practical, trauma-informed ways AI can support foster/resource parents and the children in their care. Through live demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on activities, caregivers will see how AI can help with everyday tasks, provide behavioral support strategies, and connect families to valuable resources—all while emphasizing safe and responsible use.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to: Identify common myths and misconceptions about AI and explain the realities. Describe at least three everyday ways AI can support caregivers (e.g., storytelling, affirmations, resources). Demonstrate how AI can be used to generate trauma-informed caregiver tools and behavioral support strategies. Apply AI to common caregiving scenarios through guided practice. Recognize the ethical and safe use of AI in supporting children and families.
