Paternal Perinatal Mental Health: The Changing Face of New Fatherhood

Fathers’ mental health is often overlooked in reproductive mental health research and practice. This presentation will provide information regarding key issues and best evidence-based clinical practice regarding paternal perinatal mental health.
Participants will:
1. Gain a broad overview of key psychosocial elements in the transition to fatherhood and men’s perinatal mental health
2. Review examples of how fatherhood involvement impacts the family system
3. Learn evidence-based approaches to better engage fathers with perinatal services, with their children, and with their partners during pregnancy and early parenthood
