Building Brave Kids: Confidence and Social Skills for Trauma Impacted Youth
Presented by Foster and Kinship Care Education (FKCE)
Instructor: Renee Cervantez
Children impacted by trauma often struggle with confidence, communication, and peer relationships, which can lead to behaviors that are frequently misunderstood. This training provides practical tools caregivers can use to strengthen self‑esteem, communication, and connection, using trauma‑informed strategies that support healthy social development and emotional safety. Participants will:
Identify how trauma impacts confidence, communication, and social development in children and youth
Apply at least three trauma‑informed strategies that strengthen self‑esteem and support positive social interactions at home.
Recognize when a child’s social challenges indicate a need for additional supports
Leave this training with the knowledge to coach youth through friendships, boundaries, and conflict repair while accessing appropriate Ventura County supports when needed.
