Triggers and Trauma

Thursday, November 6, 2025

Presented by Ventura and Oxnard College FKCE
Children and youth in foster care often carry invisible wounds from past abuse, neglect, and loss. These experiences shape how their brains and bodies respond to the world around them—especially when they feel unsafe or reminded of past pain. This training explores how trauma impacts behavior, emotional regulation, and relationships. Participants will learn how to recognize triggers, respond with empathy, and create healing environments that promote safety and trust.
Through real-life scenarios, reflection, and discussion, participants will gain practical tools for responding to challenging behaviors, regulating their own emotions, and supporting youth as they heal and rebuild trust.
