Sexual Health Conversations as an Ally to Trauma Treatment
Presented by CalTrin
This workshop prepares attendees to initiate and respond to sexual health conversations with children, youth, parents, and colleagues. Participants will learn how three practical tools — suspending judgment, applying sexual health principles, and using basic and specific sexual health terms — increase clinician confidence and client openness across the lifespan. Brief experiential exercises are woven throughout the training, giving participants repeated opportunities to observe and practice the foundational conversation skills required for trauma-informed sexual health work.
Participants will:
1. Attendees will be able to define 6 sexual health principles
2. Attendees will increase their confidence and willingness to engage in sexual health discussions in trauma treatment
3. Attendees will be able to describe the intersectionality of sexual health knowledge and trauma response and treatment
