A Nervous System Aware Approach to Social Emotional Learning
Presented by CalTrin
This practical, trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming training reframes behavior through a nervous-system-aware lens and explores how protective responses may appear in children, youth, caregivers, and professionals.
Participants will:
1. Identify three reasons children, youth, families, or professionals may have difficulty accessing social and emotional skills during stress, trauma activation, or nervous-system overload.
2. Distinguish four protective nervous-system responses that may show up as behavior in children, youth, caregivers, or professionals.
3. Apply three trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming strategies that support emotional regulation, connection, and skill-building.
4. Plan one practical implementation step to integrate nervous-system-aware SEL into a professional role, team practice, or family-support setting.
