In-Service CE: Supporting Foster Youth Through the Holidays
The holiday season can be the "most wonderful time of the year," but for many youth involved in the child welfare system, it is a time of sadness, loss, and longing for families that they are missing, families that were not safe or joyful to be a part of, or families that they do not even remember ever having. For traumatized children, this can be a very triggering season. We will discuss how to support these youth during the holiday season, when there are so many great opportunities to engage them in holiday activities, but also so many potential reminders for them of what they miss or what they have lost.
