In-Service CE: Mindfulness Training
Presenter: Robin Cressman
Objectives: Participants will learn about mindfulness, meditation, and related practices that can be utilized by CASA's in working with their appointees, as well as in their own daily life and self-care. Workshop will include a few brief but effective meditations, an in-depth discussion of mindfulness as a practice as well as its use in both Eastern traditions and Western medical practice, and mindful practices participants can put to use immediately in their work with their appointee, and their own life and stress-management.
Goal: Increase understanding and awareness of mindfulness-based practices, introduce actionable tools for the CASA and the children appointed to them.
Robin Cressman has a Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University, and over 1000 hours of certifications in yoga, meditation, Reiki, nutrition, and health coaching. After starting her career in the fitness industry as a personal trainer in NYC, she earned her first Yoga and Meditation Teacher Training with OM Yoga in 2011. It wasn't until a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes a year later that she started devoting her time and energy to understanding, listening to, and healing the body. Her favorite way to do that is through the practices of yoga and meditation.
Robin served as a CASA in Ventura County from 2017-2019 and is familiar with the unique needs of the juvenile justice population, as well as those facing their CASA's.
