Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) & Prenatal Drug Exposure refer to the varying affects that drug and alcohol exposure can have on a fetus. Impacts ranging from physical structures on the fetus brain to behavioral and cognitive impairments leave a newborn with a life-time of developmental challenges. Dive into the varying short-term & long-term affects exposure can have on the brain and body, along with what parts of the brain are impacted. Then learn how you can step in to care for an alcohol and/or drug exposed infant and advocate for the proper care and support needed to achieve a thriving lifestyle.
Part one from 6-7:30 will focus on the depths of impact on FASD and Prenatal Drug Exposure. Part 2 from 7:30-9pm will take a look at the care and support to provide for an exposed infant.
Your Instructor: Lori Switanowski has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for over 30 years! She is an adoptive mom, an FKCE Program Director alumni and founder of Our Family Comes First, specializing in working with traumatized children and their families. She teaches parenting classes throughout the state of California and Texas. She brings a wealth of both personal and professional experience with her.
