Understanding the Brain and Attachment

Learn the detrimental impact of how multiple traumatic experiences impact a youth's ability to attach to other caregivers. Participants will learn how "The Cycle of Need" impacts attachment and how to successfully attach with your child
The first part of the class will focus on defining attachment as it relates to youth in out of home care and how various traumatic events impact a child's ability to attach. The second part will help you identify intervention strategies focused on how to build attachment with a child in your care.
PLEASE NOTE: For your convenience, join us for Part 1 only from 6-7:30pm or stay for the entire three hours. Credit will be provided based on hours attended.
Lori Switanowski has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for over 30 years! She is an adoptive mom, an FKCE Program Director alumni and founder of Our Family Comes First, specializing in working with traumatized children and their families. She teaches parenting classes throughout the state of California and Texas. She brings a wealth of both personal and professional experience with her.
CE Hours: 3 (1.5 if you attend part 1 only)
