Preventing Power Struggles: How to Provide the Loving Boundaries Young Children Need to Thrive
One of the most critical components for establishing a safe, peaceful environment in early childhood programs is engaging children’s cooperation. But many classrooms (and households) are fraught with power struggles that ensue when a child is choosing not to, or is unable to, follow important directions. When power struggles prevail, everybody loses.
This webinar, presented by author and child development and parenting expert Claire Lerner will present a powerful, effective and loving approach to helping preschoolers accept and adapt to rules and limits while avoiding power struggles, both in group settings and in homes. You will also learn roadmap for how to effectively communicate with families to support them in being the loving limit-setters their children need them to be.
In this insightful session you will learn:
Insight into the root causes of power struggles with kids
About an approach to setting limits and boundaries that is loving and effective, using cases from schools and families
How to communicate and partner effectively with families in order to collaborate on establishing appropriate expectations for kids’ behavior and strategies to help kids accept and adapt to rules and limits.
