CASA - Advocating for a Youth that has been Sexually Assaulted
Presented by CASA in partnership with FKCE
Trainer: Melissa Ipatzi, Coalition for Family Harmony
We will be discussing how to utilize a trauma-informed approach as a service provider to support youth who have disclosed sexual assault. We will examine the short and long term effects of sexual assault, with an emphasis on how trauma manifests in youth. We will also be discussing the nuances of being in a mandated reporter role while also practicing the most survivor-centered approach to ensure that we are creating rapport with youth and respecting their individual healing journey.
Coalition for Family Harmony is a nonprofit organization that is home to the only Rape Crisis Center in Ventura County. SART Coordinator Melissa Ipatzi responds in-person or via phone to support survivors of sexual assault through utilizing crisis counseling approaces during a survivor's forensic exam and interview. We have a 24/7 team of Rape Crisis Advocates who are ready to support survivors in crisis."
