Trauma and Hygiene
Presented by Ventura and Oxnard College FKCE
Trainer Dr. Judy Sullivan Osterhage
For children in foster care, hygiene basics such as bathing, teeth brushing and hair combing can have negative associations that can be too difficult for a child to maintain. In this training, learn how past trauma, neglect, and lack of education can all be contributing factors to hygiene indifference. This class will help you gain an understanding of how lack of hygiene can lead to negative consequences, both physically and mentally. You will learn hygiene practices you can implement with your child to help them address related fears and then patiently work towards positive experiences with cleanliness.
Your Instructor: Dr. Judy Sullivan Osterhage is a Parent Coach Consultant with Parenting Matters & an Early Childhood Specialist. She holds a Doctorate in Elementary Education, and with that, has brought educational trainings to foster and adoptive parents for over 35 years!
