Susan Berns

Susan, a former practicing attorney, has been a CASA Volunteer Advocate since April 2008 and a Peer Coordinator since October 2013. Susan has developed an expertise in managing cases for transition-aged youth and non-minor dependents, especially where those cases involve youth seeking higher education or having complex legal issues. Susan is using her previous legal and non-profit management experience to:

-provide her CASAs with extensive resources to assist their transitional teens and non-minor dependents;
-help plan for and teach trainings on CASA and Non-Minor Dependent advocacy;
-interface with county and state education leaders to advance higher education options for foster youth.

Susan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and a Juris Doctor degree from USC.
